unwrap your trees

if you live in the northeast, it seems that temperatures will remain high enough to unwrap your trees.
I uncovered one tree and checked for mice damage, it seems. that the moth balls really did a good job of keeping them away.

Good news Bass.
Gee how time fly's as we get older yes WE.  ; )
It really seemed like only a few months back most were reading how the mice destroyed a lot of your plants and or limbs .
Hope your season goes well for you along with the rest .

I allready unwrapped mine, with mixed results.
Some cultivars were dead to soil level, some not.

I unwrapped all my in-ground figs last week and put all my potted figs outside.
No damage on any of them that i can see : )

Bass,

This year I plan on using a couple of plastic owls with the moving heads.
That SHOULD keep my pet squirrel away! I hope.

On Sat/Sun I removed the insulation from the greenhouse and started organizing things.
I also root cleaned/pruned and repotted/potted up about 15 trees.  Finally, I pruned and shaped.  I still have to unwrap about 6 of the big ones and prune/shape as well while at the same time potting up about 8 more.  Lots of work, but the type of "work" I could get used to!

All of them are resting in the greenhouse.
I looked at the 14 day weather trend for Toronto and it seems that other than a few flurries on Monday, its going to stay comfortably over 0*C.

Here's to eating so many figs at one sitting that they all start to taste the same.
To all a fruitful fig season.

I've got to find a better solution to the squirrels and racoons (and possums) which find my fruit trees so tempting.  i wouldn't mind sharing, but none of these three do that, anything they don't eat they destroy.

I can only take out so many with a bb gun, so I've been looking for a solution and I found night guards.  Anyone heard of them?

I hope to unwrap my outdoor tree this next weekend, and would have left it unwrapped all winter had I known how this past winter was going to be.
