Update Egg Mass on Fig Leaf

Original topic here...

The egg mass hatched out a few days ago.  I waited to be able and see the critters before taking pics.  This is what they do to fig leaves but are so small you might never see them on a leaf.

Those critters are nasty. Thanks for sharing, Charlie.

Yuck. Gross. Destructive. and the list goes on. What can they be?

They look like mini maggots right now but utilize webbing you can't see in the pics.  What we call "bag worms" are common here on local pecan trees.  Might be them or not, too early to tell.  This is new to me and this leaf eating is what they did to my Brown Turkey early on.

They eat the spaces between the leaf veins.  I never saw them on the leaves because of their size but first noticed them crawling on the white lid of the pint air layer jar.

Edit to add...Not sure I will be able to keep these alive to allow them enough maturity to tell.  Certainly am not going to feed them fig leaves as all mine are new and too few to spare.  However there is a mulberry tree out back and I will try some leaves from it to feed them.
