Update on cuttings that rooted this year....best year so far

Hi guys this is Kausik from Adelaide, Australia. Just to share the update on all the cuttings that rooted this year. So far collection wise this is the best year. Thanks to some great fig members, I can able to achieve some great varieties. Most of my cuttings rooted in sphagnum moss , then move into 50-50 perlite and potting mix kept in humidity dome. Finally in potting mix.
Thanks for looking and hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I do.
Now I have to wait to taste the food.
Take care,
Kausik

@ mocatta
are you sure that he was italian and not greek??? because its a greek word and the word is eggplant in greek.
and your fruit looks like eggplant... :-))

The guy that gave me the cuttings was Italian from Calabria he told me the cuttings came from Calabria years ago,but if u look at leaves and fig id say its a Black Mission.

Hi mocatta,
Melenzana is normally a synonym to "Longue d'aout".
The leaf could have been mistaken for the one of "Longue d'aout" ... But the fruit is really different on "Longue d'aout" .

Thanks Waynea.

I think Melenzana means eggplant in Italian as well. According to my source this tree produces big eggplant shape figs weighing around 120 to 150 gros. The fig is moderate in taste but huge to display. Only time will show me the true colour of this tree.
Macotta the R14 looks very similar to Archipal.

Andreas I thought you have a same fig called Vassana in Greece.
Thanks guys.

Thanks Otmani, next satisfaction will be when I am tasting all the figs.

Those are nice rooted cuttings.  They're all ready to start the summer, or, err, winter, err, or whatever you call the hot growing season down there ;-)
Cheers,
Jim

They are looking very good! With your summer approaching, they are going to grow beautifully.

In some of them, I would add mulching or more soil, so, more roots can form in the lower portion.

Best luck!

Thanks Grass a I will do that very soon.

No question about it Melanzana in Italian means eggplant in some southern dialects it's called mulagnana

I have just been sent 2 figs said to be from Calabria ...a green and a black...must get them in their party cups...they all took root during their journey.

Good Luck, great job on these cuttings! :)

Good, but any idea of the name of those two varieties? Will be interesting to see some pic of the fruit in coming years. Take care.

The original owner doesn't know the name kausikck76. But I will find out what village they are from.
I will have at least 4 to identify.
Something to look forward to.
