UPDATED Thibodeaux 9-9-13

That does look great!  I'll definitely keep it on my wish list.

Thanks for sharing the photo. It is a new one for many of us. I got a few figs in my tree but Its the first time fruiting. I have offered a few trees of this variety this year.

Will do mike.

Any one growing both LSU Thibodeaux & LSU Black ? Could they be the same fig.

Paul,

I grow the LSU Black, but not the Thibodeaux. LSU Blk does not look similar to Mike's Thibodeaux. LSU Blk has a neck, it is also a bit elongated and has a smaller eye. There is no cavity inside the fruit of LSU Blk, but Mike's has a small cavity. I hope it helps.

Navid.

Nice looking fig.  Judging by the cut view it might be even better with a few more days on the tree.

Paully, I have both and the leaf pattern is completely different. The LSU Black is a five lobe where as Thibodeaux is three lobe.
I will be able to give a fig comparison if the lSU Black will ripen soon.

@ Mike & Navid -- Thanks for the feedbacks.

I found Dr. Sidney Thibodeaux's obituary online.  I thought it would be fitting to post it here in his honor.

Here is some interesting information about him from the obituary:

He received a B.A. degree from Tulane University and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from LSU. He worked at several LSU Agricultural Experiment Stations and taught at Nicholls State University. He was a member of Sigma Xi. He was known for his love of plants, teaching and reading.
