upside down cutting?

Did I pot this upside down because the new buds or leafs seem to be growing downward. Any ideas?

It appears so, Barry.  Do you have roots yet?  Ultimately, you can lay the cutting horizontally and the shoots will find their way to the surface.  It just depends on the current root situation.

Looks like it.  You are not the first!

When I found one like that last month, with roots under the potting mix, I found a pot big enough to lay the cutting in sideways and covered the whole thing with the dirt.  The shoots will grow upright, and hopefully the whole cutting will get roots on it.

Very helpful. So I place in soil on its side and it may root and then grow vertical shoots at some point? Then sounds like I can cut into individual plants? Thanks

Been there done that. I was once told by a wise man. Is. Look at the cuttings if you see a smile face your good if you see a frown flip it over. Look at the big notch. This works well.

I do most of my cuttings sideways in the pot. Sometimes  you can cut them later, but usually mine don't work out that way, I just end up with the one. However, they do get some wonderful roots on them since they start growing all up and down the cutting. Besides, I grow my figs bush style, and the sideways cutting helps spread the starting trunks out just a bit.
