USDA / UC Davis pix No. 15

The goal of this trip was to photograph as many of the cultivars as possible. Some were earlier season figs, and no longer available, and some later season figs, not yet ripe. However, the vast majority were available. Unless otherwise noted, these were of acceptable flavor, worth growing, but not necessarily exceptional.

Mission

Definitely not the same as my Black Mission NL, or as good.







Vernino

This one has a nice acid-sugar balance. Very nice when grown here in an Diego.







Excel

Definitely not the same fig as my Excel. Mine is more like Falls Gold and Igo, which have a much heartier flavor. Don not yet know which is the real Excel, though I would assume that, as a Condit hybrid, that USDA probably has the real deal.
