Tangle foot is great stuff.
I prefer to keep it off my plants though as there is some chance it will damage the tree.
I use a piece of cloth long enough to go around the trunk, and stick it to a longer piece of duct tape. Wrapping it around the trunk the cloth is against the tree and the duct tape continues to wrap all the way around again so it sticks to itself and holds the cloth to the tree. Then I put the tangle foot on the duct tape.
