Variegated Panache

Jon, it is a new plant, right? Looks interesting for lack of better word.

My panachee from ucdavis grafted on a fatty adriatic, is the most luscious 2 feet tall plant. The first few leaves appeared 'deformed, malformed', but the 3rd leaf is incredible. no deformity at all, but has a few spots that look a bit like yours. The leaf of mine is perfectly almost round, bigger than a dinner plate. Pretty awesome.

It has been one year since the graft and the rooting of the cutting.

Is that a sport on your tree?  It looks more like a Jolly tiger.

Jon,

I don't know if you remember me posting mine last year. But maybe we have something here?

This would be awesome.

So far it is one leaf, and it does look like a Jolly Tiger leaf. I assume it is just a freak leaf, but will keep an eye on it.

@pitangadiego, Jon, I would think, if you cut the branch just above the variegated leaf, it might promote a growth with prominent varigated leaves.

Hi John ,

Its also happening to my panache too .

But its  only one leaf has been changed to varigata from all tree's leaves. for  my 2 years observation of my panache.

I keep expecting more leaves turn to varigata like Jolly tiger .

Salam .
Zaitun.

Some of my friends who has got the cutting from this Panache mother stock  in Indo also has the same experience . Panache Leaf.jpg

Maybe it's a virus?

I doubt if it's a virus Bob, looks more like a beginning of a Jolly T but has to be selectively trimmed.
That's my take and I am sticking to it! ;)

I really want to try this strain in LA, can anyone find me one ? I'll pay.
This got me really curious.

looks more  like virus to me. also the leaves shape are not looking to good. that would be nice if it was variegated. my two cents

@Eithieus, have you seen that patters of Albinoism on any other variety, is that how you come to that conclusion?

Either way, encouragement of growth at that node is a good idea.

don't think it's virus. more like for whatever reason recessive gene showing up. engineering defect.

I had a Brooklyn White with one variegated leaf last year but nothing came from it.

I have a sucker with 2 variegated leaves that have been followed up by all yellow leaves. Should I consider these yellow leaves variegated
