Wondering if anyone here is growing both vista and violette de Bordeaux. Curious if there is noticeable flavor differences. I know that genetics testing has shown them to be the same. Any info is much appreciated.

DNA testing at USDA/UC Davis indicates they are the same. Vista has out-performed any of the VdBs I have from any other source. I have a couple dozen Celeste variants, and they are not all created equal, as well.

By 'outperform' do you mean taste, quantity, both or something else?

Thanks for the extra info. I am trying to decide whether or not I want to get some violette de bordeaux cuttings in the future. The vista cuttings all have shoot growth but no noticeable roots yet.
