It is not a new discovery but affirmation of the versatility of the bag method. I have been using it for fig cuttings but it also proved very useful in germination of 'tough to germinate' vegetable seeds like bitter-melon etc. I put the seeds in two layers of wet towel (or tissue) papers and placed it in a Ziploc bag alongside the fig cuttings. Cucumber took a couple of days while the toughest to germinate vege seeds took 3 or 4 days to germinate/sprout. After germination I carefully transferred these to soil in pots. This way you have to attend to the germinated/sprouted seeds only.
That's great news OttawanZ5, I have one question though? ....Why in the world would anyone want a bitter melon? We like melons around here, but I don't think the bitter ones would fly here! HEHE........Just joking. Keep up the good work. Cecil
