Looks promising. Good luck!

You are welcome. Good luck!

Thank you everyone I will be sure to let you all know my progress

Yes Tony Reubens a great guy he helped me out I also. There very easy to root.Enjoy.

Thanks rob0520

Anytime bro

Good luck. Of all the figs I've ever rooted, Green Ischia is - by far - the most hardy and robust. Of the 12 cuttings I rooted all 12 became vigorous trees that are much bigger then any other variety at this point - only competing w/ Atreano and White Paradisio. I look forward to seeing these little dynamos in 2 or 3 years.

Thanks for all the good luck wishes everyone I hope to give some cuttings from these once established since they wont be unknowns

Tony,

I am barely an amateur so don't take this as a fact but I used the same box that you have used and I found that the lids don't seal very well which lets the spaghnum moss dry out quicker. The Chinese take out boxes sealed perfectly but were smaller. The take out boxes retained the moisture completely which makes it important to get the right amount to start with. Again I really don't know what I'm doing but those were my observations. I'm still way to green to even begin to hypothesize as to which is better.

Duh!!! there cheaper to I could've went to the dollar store and bought them I think Rubbermaid makes a similar container to the Chinese container (seen at walmart) and there actually cheaper (economy version) then the dollar store all I was thinking about was having a clear container or at least most of it I'm probably better off with the Chinese containers there smaller and I can stack them 2 to 1 compared to the one I have now thanks darkman good looking out

Tony and Darkman,  What if Tony uses Gladwrap over the top of the container and then puts the lid on it--Would that make a good seal then?

Just a thought,

noss

It's just the containers that I get my Chinese take out food in. They seal very well. The downside is they are a little small but still will hold about a nine inch cutting. I was able to write on the top with a Sharpie and a month later with a little elbow grease wipe off the label so it can be reused easily. They are dishwasher safe so they can be sterilized if your DW will do that. The lids are extremely clear, so you can see your takeout I guess, which allows me to see if any roots or shoots are poking up without lifting the lid. Here are some pics.

Hey everyone TONYSAC here with an update these where the cuttings from Ruben that I received on the 29th of May only 20 days later and they all rooted just wanted to show you the progress. There all in clear cups with the proper holes for drainage etc and a 50/50 mix perlite potting soil. I will update again to show further progress.

Anthony,

Try not to move the cups around too much.
I learned the hard way last year when I had some rare and very hard to get cuttings rooting and doing great. When I moved them to another spot they went south almost immediately. Learn from my mistake.

It seems like the young plants don't like to be moved, so give them a month or so before you move them.

I'm only basing this on my own experience. Good luck.

I dont plan on moving them if you look at the last pick those containers under the table is there new home.

That would be perfect, As long as there's no direct sun.

Glad they are doing well for you, Tony. Continued good luck to you!

Apologies for the slight off-topic diversion...

Charles,
Alcohol may require a little less elbow in that grease to remove the Sharpie from your Chinese containers...maybe we can call it, pinkie grease. Sharpie ink is soluable in alcohol. I know this because I have made "Sharpie Shirts" with my children. Very cool. We learned about them at The Science Wondershop.

Thanks JD,

I had no idea. I thought Permanent was! Very good to know that.

Tony,

I'm glad to see yours are doing well. I have learned alot this year sadly at the espense of my cuttings. I still have managed to save some and I will be planting out one or two soon.

Hey noss first of all don't be discouraged you will get it there just roots you will prevail second just go get some new moss from home depot I think it was 3.50 a bag I soaked it for 5 Min's and rung it out good put about an inch in the bottom put the cuttings and covered them completely put thermometer in there it stayed at 80 deg with filtered light I opened it like every other day just for the air and you see what happened I wouldn't Clorox the moss just change it add that moss to your potting soil or something if it smells musty there's mold in there somewhere but I think outside in garden etc it will be fine mixed into soil it also might just be your cuttings etc hard to root maybe. Just a thought you will get it I have a couple of cuttings started with 4 and now down to 2 they get slimy I clean them dry them out a little and put them back in but they still get slimy bark peeling kinda gross so I trim them and keep trying don't know if these are gonna root though. But good luck and keep us posted if you wanna send some my way I would be more then happy to try and root them for you and ship them back your call ? PS the moss I bought is pictured in the first set of pics that's from HD

Thanks everyone for all the comments and best wishes there greatly appreciated.

And Rafed there not in direct sunlight its filtered for sure.

Hello Noss, Not sure why things aren't working out for you. Moss should be damp, but not dripping wet. Also should open container to let fresh air in every other day. And keep out of direct light. If you are where the temps are in the 90's, maybe find a cooler spot. For me 65 to 75 degrees works the best. Now that's just me, sure others do differently.
