video: tasting figs in Syria (in Saidnaya)

This time I am posting my own video. I made it back in August while I was in Syria and I finally had the time to publish it now.

What is interesting about this video is that it was made in the historic town of Saidnaya. This place is considered as an important place for pilgrimages in Christianity. It is said to be second to Jerusalem in terms of significance for Christians.

Also, if you are a interested in finding out more about Saidnaya you can read an interesting article on Wikipedia

here are two pictures from inside two churches in Saidnaya

Michal,

I'm glad you took my recommendation on visiting Sidnaya.
I have a tree from Sidnaya that makes very similar figs. These seem to be the wild figs of that area.
Here's one I call Barada, It is among the best tasting honey fig.

Michal,

You are a well traveled person and thank you for sharing you experiences with us.

We should call you : "The man with the thousand figs". As in taste wise.

The pics of the church are a beauty.

Michal lovely video and thanks for posting. That dried fig had a very nice exterior colour similar to a fig bass posted  pics of earlier this year. The second fig made a drool a little looks delicious.

So I am now "The man with the thousand figs"

and thanks for the compliments and thank you to Bass since without him this video would not exist.

One thing for sure is that it was in Syria and Lebanon I have tasted some of the best figs so far.

Michal, thats a very nice video. From your travels you could easy have a superb collection. Good to know that some of the best figs U have tasted came from the middle east. Thanks for keeping us fignuts drool and in touch with the rest of the fig variants available.
