Video update on the UCDavis cuttings

Here is a video of the progress my cuttings have made.  I lost two of the Ischia Black cuttings.  One from a stupid mistake.  Video Update

Nice video!  I actually prefer to lay my cuttings horizontally in the earth with an inch of loose soil over.  They grow well that way, and I never fear rot or mold.  Once they get established I transfer them to a container (usually a grow bag with holes for root pruning to prevent circling), and hopefully one day, into the ground when we find the acreage we want.

Thanks for sharing your experiences! Great vids.

Nice video, Thanks for sharing.

Don't beat yourself so hard. We all make mistakes.

Always enjoy your video's and like your voice very easy to understand.
Thanks and look forward to more video's and pictures on the forum.

Can you end up with  multiple plants when you plant the cuttings horizontally?  The remaining Ischia Black has lots of growth but I still can't see roots to edge of cup which is strange.

Sometimes they just do that. Some figs will start to grow leaves in abundance with no roots. Some grow lots of roots and are slow to leaf out. Some do both. If you can keep your cutting alive and relatively fungus free until cooler weather it should still make it.

Yes, you can end up with multiple plants on horizontal in ground planting of cuttings.  First time I tried this method was when UC Davis sent me some really long cuttings.  I cut a really short piece with only 2-3 buds on it to limit things, and used the rest of the cutting for the bag method.  Had more success with the horizontal cuttings.   At some point if you get 2 trees from one cutting you will need to cut the main cutting to separate the twins!  So far, I've only gotten one tree per 2-3 bud cutting.  Works for grape vines too!
