This is my best fig so far this year. Super sweet and jammy.

And super photography! You know people are drooling over their keyboards right. LOL

Can't wait for my first VdB. Next year since mine are cuttings this year.

Kyfig all of his figs look like this. He is a top notch fig grower or is it because he lives in Hawaii lol. Best fig I seen this year. Richie

Yea I know...as I clean off my tablet screen once again. 😛

Sid has mad skills.

Oh My!No pulp and a juicy berry filling. No way I could bring that in here,
it would have fermented.

Wow! Those colors the thin skin and the jammy look of the fig makes me dream.
Only dream.
Because  the temps up here would never let a VDB look or became that marvel.

I am so jealous, 3 trees in pots all 3 years old. Not a sign of a fig yet. Maybe next year. Thank goodness for LSU figs, here in E. TN they root and grow like weeds I guess because of their lineage of Celeste which also does really well here, my 5 year old Celeste is a happy 8x8 foot round ball. I have 4 month old LSU Scott's Black and Champagne cuttings bearing figlets at 18 inches high!

I wish the VDB was more vigorous here. I want a fig like the pic!!! The White Marseille and Ischia are also slow, wonder if this is a trait of the "finger" leaf types. Here all three are rust magnets and slow growing. Heat, rain and humidity? Less Sun? They get 10 hours or more.  Any suggestions?

Fig trees are like women (no offense here), hard to understand...My tissue cultured Olympian and Desert King, in 3 gal pots from Wellspring, grow very well from 4" tall to 2' now.  I have 8 figs on the Olympian and none on the Desert King.  Not complaining though, because they are less than one year old.  I am just amazed that Olympian fig tree can do this kind of trick.  On the other hand my in ground 4 years old Ischia had only 6 figs on the lower branches (two dropped).  This is close to 8' tall tree with all those beautiful leaves and stems but no figs on new growth.

Look like Sid's VDB fig has been dried somewhat on the tree.  I am skeptical that we in the S.E. states can do that without worrying about mold and other issues.  It maybe possible to pick them ripe and dry them under the hot sun or by other means. But in my house, they won't last that long, till all my trees are producing heavily.

I was on the verge of junking VdB many years back due to my zonal constraints. Changed my mind
After sampling & seeing how Marius plant performed -- super tasty & productive. I decided to greenhouse
it & never regretted. It's hard to come across variants that can out performed VdB.
