From a very young tree, rooted in the spring of 2013.

Very prolific cultivar, with fast response to bud pinching and growing very large fruit. (80 to 90 gram)
The figs were sweet and much aromatic and crunchy , believe these qualities will further improve with age and once planted in the ground. Has accepted pollination on the fist week of June.

Francisco, the fig looks fantastic.  I also rooted a Black Madeira and Figo Preto in the spring of 2013 and am looking forward to fruit in a few weeks.  I curious what the leaves look like on your Violeta - do you have pics of the leaves?

Is there a Rimada effect on it or it's just illusion?

Taste-wise: does it have any acidity as an underlying flavor or just plain honey sweetness with figgie aroma?

A question : you mentioned that your Violeta and the Black Madeira are the same figs or closely related.
My BM is not even close to be ripe while you are showing the ripe fruit already.
Is yours a much earlier strain?
If I grow them side by side, will I have a looong season of the BM quality fruit?

I like the coloring, inside and out. Nice blue outside and deep red inside. Keeping my fingers crossed that mine will produce a small crop next year.

Let me clarify one important point.-

This fig is not VdB (greenbud question ?)- It's Violeta
IMO , Violeta, Black Madeira and Figo Preto are synonyms.
It's a Common fig and does not require pollination to mature

I do not see any rimada effect on this fig skin...may be faint very shallow ribs appearing on some fruit or depending on a string of factors, various skin dark colors from brownish to blue and black.
In what concerns flavors, yes this Violeta does have a mix of rich acidic berry like savours.

My fig in your place would do exactly as yours is doing.

In fact, less the 'half a mile from the sea', it is my climate too and hence my question! ( I live 30 min from the ocean).
The climate around Los Angeles is almost like a desert one and the Mojave Desert just outside the city. My temperatures are 33-40*C every day and this year is quite hot, and the figs get the sun from 9 am till 7 pm. Basically, our Mediterranean climate is not much different from yours.
That is why I am surprised to see your fully ripe figs.

There may be some other factors... all my potted figs get full sun from sunrise (06H30AM) to sunset (08H50PM).. the temperatures are very similar to yours....humidity average 40 to 50%RH ....
May be because here the plants get more sun... and/or the permanent mild sea breezes. ?'

For instance,  I could not show any of my figs with that 'greeny, fresh and  lettuceish aspect' as your Pastilliere on the pictures of your thread.(on July 20th? ). My figs looking at yours would say -.. this guy has never left the air conditioned room with full temp and humidity precise controls!!.. -..

In my area the Eastern farmers get their brebas and figs ripen almost one month ahead of mine !
These areas are coastal plains fully 'washed' by the SE hot breezes and may be two to three ºC higher than in my place.

I would very much welcome someone from those California fig places to really try either BM or Figo Preto  -or the two ,in ground,   to see how these figs perform and compare the results.
