Violette Dauphine

Finally ripened the first one of the season. One of the best tasting dark figs thus far. Looking forward to next season to see how the breba crop does.

I forgot to add another photo of the leaves and the eye of this fig.

Looks yummy!

Nice to see what the ripe fruit looks like- I have one and it is growing at the speed of dead tortoise.

Hello Leon ,
Nice Figs pic.
I also saw your previous thread for another Dauphine  which were also fruiting very well in your area.
May i know and have your advice :
1. Is Violete dauphine a same type with Dauphine.( Green Daupine)..?
2. Is there any special treatment for Dauphine (Green Dauphine ) to produce fruit at your area . Since I Have Dauphine from baud , last year was fruiting well (breba crop)  , but this year all fruit dropped off.

Hope I could have your experience advice.

Thanks and Salam

Hello Salam:
There are too many synonyms for several figs named "Dauphine".
One variety makes a breba crop only. This is a San Pedro fig. The other, referred to as "Violette Dauphine" produces two crops of purple figs.
Here is a site that describes the fig in the photos I just posted. I probably should have called this fig by another name, "Violette De Argentueil", so as to not confuse it with the San Pedro variety.

If the taste matches it's looks. This is a perfect looking fig. WOW. I gotta get this one. Where do I sign up.
