Violette de Bordeaux cuttings available

This past weekend I re-potted my VdB.  In the process, I decided to prune off the lowest branch (nearly a sucker) and ended up with three cuttings.  I don't need any more duplicate fig trees so in the interest of giving back to the community I'll send all three for free to the first person who responds to me by PM so long as they live within the U.S.  (Nothing against those of you outside the country but I'm trying to avoid the obvious customs hassles with sending plant materials across the border.)  Note that the tree that the cuttings came off quite possibly has FMV but is very healthy nonetheless and this hasn't been an issue.  At this point it is not quite dormant.

Well, that was quick - the cuttings have been spoken for.

yeah.. usually they go really fast. some of more choice cuttings are almost impossible to get to if you blink.

Pete, regarding your question in another thread about when to re-pot, I decided to go ahead since the weather is so cool and the tree had already lost some of its leaves.  It was also wilted a bit because over the summer it was in a partially buried pot and the roots invaded the surrounding soil.  I severed those roots with a spade before Sandy came and it has looked a bit stressed ever since.  Last time it was potted, I knew much less about figs and potted it into a mix of actual soil from my garden, Miracle Gro and a bit of compost.  It took a while to separate that soil from the roots.  It is now in a Tapla 5-1-1 mix. By the way, two of the cuttings you sent me this past summer are doing great - thanks again.

Quess you just about have to live on the forum to get these great opportunities.  A fellow member has promised some of these prized cuttings a little later this year.  I can hardly wait.  I think I enjoy the rooting and growing almost as much as the eating.....no, on second thougths....eating is way better!!!!!

Hi Steve,
I wanted to say thank you for your spirit of generosity.   This is a great forum because of the people like you who are willing to share.  I certainly have benefited from the knowledge and experiences of others on this forum.  I didn't ask for any cuttings but have benefited from cuttings from others in the past.  I'm looking forward to the day when my figs grow out and I can "pay it forward."
