VIOLETTE DE SOLLIÈS - FRENCH VIDEO

It is a fast grower in a self watering pot and will outgrow the pot in no time, but productivity in a pot remains a question mark.
This one year old tree produced only four figs for me. Despite the low count, other than Col de Dame, this fig is the most exciting one for me this summer.
It might behave differently in another zone.

thanks for the input.
Btw i am trying to loose weight through salivation:) The french realy know their liver's20121213-seared-foie-food-lab-17.jpg

I am growing this fig in pots, also in zone 10. Originally my cuttings were from Martin. (thanks again friend) I also had the first figs from it, and agree it's well worth growing. Easy to root, good growth. It's a variety I will keep multiples of.

Beautiful figs from a beautiful part of the world!

We have several VdS In pots, first year. Sadly I can't get the video to play on our iPad.

To everyone not able to se this video in IOS ipads iphones etc just download :
Free puffin browser from the appstore.
Views this video and many more without a problem

Francisco,

How productive would you say your VDS Tree is and how many years for full production?

Hi,
In the right climate and if  given the correct treatment and care VdS can be very prolific and will behave like most  other figs...in ground will commence interesting yields by the fourth year (approx 8 to 10 Kg per tree at least).

Francisco

We have VdS here in NJ and they all grew from twigs (November ) to plants 3-5 feet tall ( now)
One of them has a decent sized fig on it however I'm not sure it will ripen this year
I'm expecting a bunch of fruit from these tres next year

Francisco, This helps a lot Thanks.

Rich, according to the Baud catalog, this tree is not adapted for small gardens and needs long hot summers such as South France.

Ok... Others in cooler climates have had good results. I'll get back to you next summer.

Does somone have bauds list of varieties, not the small one on his web site?

http://www.fig-baud.com/notredisponible.html

I believe he has more as well not listed, just ask.
