Vista

Hi Folks,

I'm going to wander through these tree's I bought from Jon,early 2011.
All in ground tree's are just completing 4th leaf so it's a good time
to check structure to see what worked and where improvements can be
made.A side benefit for me is I'll get a workout on moving these photo's
from my camera, through the PC and on to this web site.I'd never done
that before.

So without further ado,Vista.

This one prefers to grow upright,it wanted to be a bush. When I started structuring it it threw
a lot of suckers which I removed.

It's close to 6',still throwing suckers.

A look at the center which has been air layered away and cleaned up.

A different angle on it.

In retrospect I should have started the fruiting structure 18" lower.
Otherwise I'm happy with it.

Cheers,

Paul

hi Paul,
you use the phrase "completing 4th leaf" what does it mean ?  :)
 thanks

Again, a beautifully structured tree! Are these pictures before or after you did your cuttings?

Aaron,it's deciduous here.Every year it sheds it's leaf.

Von,thanks,the photo's were taken today.

Cheers,

Paul

Real nice, Paul.  Well manicured.

How many fig trees you have in ground this size ?
Nice training of branching. Good work nice presentation so we can view tree other wise hard to really see what you have

Great job pruning your trees. You have some really nice growth considering they are only 4 years old.

Hi tyro,
Another nice tree.
When cutting a good sized branch one should try to cut with an angle to avoid rain water sitting on the wound.
With my trees, my goal is to keep them under 2 meters / 3.5 feet of height. I don't want to use a ladder to fetch the fruits.
I must admit that Winter is (too) good at helping me in keeping the trees under that height :( .

4th leaf means 4th season o 4th time with leaves.

Your whole orchard area is amazing, thanks for sharing these pics.

" In retrospect I should have started the fruiting structure 18" lower."

In your opinion, what would be the ideal height to start branching the fruiting structure?

Really nice!

Wow, another nice one Paul! If you get a chance, about how many figs was this years harvest from this tree? Thanks for sharing!

Awesome looking tree Paul...

Very nice trees Paul, thanks for sharing.
