Vista Brebas

There aren't too many posts on Vista even though Jon has indicated he holds this variety in very high regard.
I received cuttings 3 years ago and immediately planted in ground as soon as it rooted. It grew like crazy but did not produce even one fig until this Spring. There are literally hundreds of tiny black colored brebas dotting the branches of this multi-trunked 7 foot tree.

Does anyone have experience with Vista brebas? Do they generally mature? Any pictures of ripe Vista brebas to share?

Yes, Vista breba ripens to beautiful black colour and pretty shape around mid-July in the north here. You may expect early in area with warmer climate.

Mine looks just like yours Frank as far as development goes but mine drops every damn fig it gets breba and main. If I ever get a ripe one I will post it. I am hoping yours ripen and are fantastic.

Are the brebas as good as the main crop on Vista?   I have 3 nice fat breba on my tree i rooted last year.

I have a sinking feeling that mine will also drop, Tami. I have a terrible time with brebas maturing at my location.
I guess there are some brebacious benefits to living in Ottawa, Akram. :))

Sorry Frank cannot be of help, but wold enjoy seeing yours when the time comes.

I think I've always had Vista breba ripen for me but, honestly, don't pay close enough attention.  Later on in the season it often gets hard for me to distinguish between breba and main and I just keep picking figs continuously.  I might mark some branches so that I can distinguish breba from main later in the season.

Vista has brebas, and they will ripen, but I seldom have more than a half a dozen on my tree.

The breba tasted good to me. Can't compare with the main crop because I don't recall having both crops overlapping.
