Want seeds, v2015 ?

Got any more seed?

Oh never mind you have no seeds left

I was very busy last week and didn't have time to pickup the ripe figs.
The birds have done their nasty thing and now I have many seeds from Unk Pastilliere, Strawberry Verte, Grantham's Royal, and Unk. Large Black fig.
Please PM me if you want any.
The germination rate is quite high.

green fig has sent me two batches of fig seeds. The first batch was incredible. I think that the entire shipment germinated and are now in cups or gallon containers, many also reside in friends houses.  They are gorgeous.
The second batch has nearly all germinated and are now in the seed leaf stage and getting stronger many are getting real leaves.
Igor sends hem to you in a state that ,if you can sprout any seed these seeds will sprout and flourish.
Thank you very much Igor.

Thanks, Larry!
I wish you a happy growing!

Hi,
Just curious: I remember reading about some panaché seeds being sent. Did someone get a stripped seedling ?

I think you need to give a bit more time to see what kind of figs come out.
I know on their second year some seedlings will produce but rarely on the first year.
That is assuming your season is long.

Hi greenfig,
The wood on panaché is stripped too ...

I love this, planting fig seeds.  Has anyone had a fig yet from these seeds they planted?   I'd LOVE to see what you get.

I think Hershell had 2 plants with figs. I need to ask him.

My seedling produced on its second year, it was a nice Capri .
I posted the photos on f4f

I woukd be hapoy to pay for postage if u have more seeds to send me. Thx!

Please PM me your address. I may have a few but they are almost over.

Which of these seeds can survive a zone 6 winter? Might get some to replant a creek area. And last times seeds grew but unfortunately They died after a bunch of insects attacked them.

Probably none but you do not know unless you try.

Oh i dont know then.

Hi,
From seed in Zone7, the fig treelings don't have time to form hardened wood within the first growing season... So except for some sheltered areas ... The winter will toast them like other succulents.
But if you seed them in a pot and keep them inside during the winter, then they stand a chance.

I have two natural seedlings here ( they came alone this Spring ), and I'm still thinking if I should protect them or not ?
Ho well, one 80liters trashcan over them is not that hard to do ...
Will it be enough ? That is the experience for this coming winter.
Would they do it without any protection, could be another experience.

I have a potted seedling started in December 2013, and I have kept it inside during both winters.
I'm still thinking on what to do with it this coming winter of 2015 ... Let it go dormant or keep it growing .

So, even in Zone6, you could raise them... as a green tree ... as a fruiting tree, the answer is still to come for me. But that's the experience and the challenge !

IMG_1146.JPG These seedlings are grown from greenfig's seed. They need fertilize but till I get them reported I wouldn't be able to keep up with them. The seed germinate like weeds so be careful with them.

Update - many seeds from your Unk. Black started sprouting a few days ago, and Strawberry Verte began yesterday.  Thanks.  As Mr. Gump once said, "You never know what you're going to get."

That is awesome! Thanks for letting us know.

Any seeds left?

Lol, you need more?
Yes, I collected some today.

Wait can these seeds be used as rootstocks for grafting figs onto?

Absolutely!
They will have very nice strong root system

Good morning, Greenfin:  Only if you have a different variety :-D.  I will start my seeds in the spring, hopefully.
