The seedlings look great Hershell!

Oh if they can be used for grafting could I just get some. I know I took some last time but didn't really get any success if your interested in mailing me seed again thanks. : )

No success ? Wow!
The only way I found to kill the seeds was to deep freeze them.
Lol, that's what you did too?

I need your address, can you pm me again , please?

The seedlings got attacked by bugs.

Oh, I see. I thought you had problems germinating the seeds.
Try it again, maybe you will be more successful

Have a few Black Madeira seeds for 1 person.
Please PM me if interested

Hi, I meant to tell ya"ll (Texan) earlier that the Maderia black seeds I got Started sprouting this morning! WooHoo can't wait, although I do have to admit they are so tiny I worry about rather or not they will make it. I did ask about the parentage and the female is Maderia black, male that fertilized could be a capfig or ...  It will be interesting to see what the adult tree turns out to be and how the fruit will taste.
Wish me luck, they're very delicate right now.

Congrats!
The male was definitely a caprifig though :)

Yes, the seeds are delicate but ... If you start a 1/2 diameter cutting and a seed in February and they grow freely, by the end of the season (December here) the cutting tree will grow in the seedling's shadow. Those tiny things are some monster growers!

Sweet, good to know. I checked my seeds this morning and now I am up to six that have sprouted! Wow that is great although I am starting to run out of room for all of my fig projects. Wifey is getting that ( oh no here he goes again) look in her eyes...  What can I say I love to grow things :)

Wow!! Good luck :-)

If I may ask, where does one get these prescious seeds?0

Meg ,

They come from a pollinated fig

Greenfig was kind enough to send me mine!

Lol...thank you, Greenfig!

That BM sounds fancy but a chance that a BM fig will grow out of them is still quite small.
Might be something similar or better or worse but not exactly the same.
The statistics of an outcome is out there, please search on the forum/internet

This site seems to have the most information about growing figs from seed.

Great info, Figgysid!

I just got some seeds In the mail yesterday, Thanks Greenfig. I counted about 250 seeds.

I thought I would share how I got each one planted into pots.  Since its very hard to pick up seeds this small with your fingers, what I do is I take a plastic fork and dip it in water, this puts little drops of water on the fork, now you can touch the drops of water to a seed, it will stick to the drop, you can pick up each seed 1 at a time and plant them.  Started planting them at 5pm last night got done planting at 9pm, so 4 hours to get them all in pots...

Today I built a 20x80 greenhouse to put them all in for the winter.  I am going to have all 250 in 5 gallon pots, so that is how much space I needed to give each one a 1ft space to walk in-between them.  Check out his little root, he is ready, or hopefully she. :)  Thanks again this is super fun!

Wow, she's sprouting!!! Good idea with the fork! Pictures of your greenhouse?

Congratulations, Sid!!!
Great idea for the seed picking. I was using a sharpened flat toothpick for this.
I hope your efforts will pay off! Please keep us posted.
