Hi, i am new to the forum.
I ate my first fig 5 years ago and fell in love. I bought a black mission fig tree and grew it in a pot in the common area of my apartment building. I would eat the one or two figs it would produce and eventually none since other people started picking them. I ended up community gardening and developing a love for growing my own food with no space for trees. Four years later, I have moved and now have my own yard (still renting). I purchased another fig tree (panache) with hopes to taste one of these next year.
I now want to taste anything and everything I can get my hands on. I visit farmers markets buying more figs than one can possibly eat. I have named one of my backyard chickens figgy. I have come to believe my black mission is not a black mission.
Anyways, I would love to start my own collection, rooting cuttings, hoping to one day plant these figs into my yard when I am able to own property, and would love to eventually give my extra rooted cuttings away to places like community gardens and guerilla gardens.
If anyone has cuttings, I would love to purchase them. Please PM me. I would love to hear your story, your taste, your favorites, what I need to have, etc. Common, rare, any variety to start my collection. I live in Los Angeles and while I don't think fig cuttings are like seeds, but I'm sure some extra cold hardy varieties just won't taste as good here.
Happy Holidays!
