I decided that I must grow a large, black fig to contrast with my, beloved "Atreano". If I could fid the equivalent of "Atreano", but only in a black fig, I would be a happy man! You know....ebony and ivory....yin and yang.
Here's what I want:
Large size, MAIN-CROP figs...dark, purple-black.
Short season, easy ripening in zone 7b. (important)
Closed/small/tight eye...not prone to splitting/souring (important)
Ultimate tree size, not important,...but, will be containerized. Vigorous grower.
A variety not usually infected with mosaic, like "Mission" (important)
So friends...what varieties should I consider? Suggestions, please.
No B-T....Mission....Celeste...Fannick's, Malcom's..Patrick's Super Giants.
Thanks for the help.
