Looking at the bidding history, the guy you outbid has his bid higher set to outbid anyone until his limit price is hit

Jack, I'm not sure what you mean.  I placed the first bid at $.05 and was outbid by someone who bid $1.00 and I'm currently the high bidder at $1.25.  There is no reserve set by the seller and there is no charge for Priority Mail shipping.

Today I had a call out of the blue from some USDA inspectors out of San Francisco who were in the area and wanted to talk to me to verify the varieties and source of chestnuts I sell online.  Someone had brought some LA Times Article (from a few years ago, I think) to their attention.  They were satisfied with the information I provided.  I was told they spend their entire time verifying such things and were headed down to Tulare (about 225 miles south of me).  I've never heard of this unit ("SITC", a small division of USDA under APHIS) even though I read several agricultural periodicals.  After they left I sent an email to one of them about our dirt bag New York seller.  They had mentioned eBay sellers and it didn't dawn to mention this guy while we were speaking but I'm hopeful they will follow-up.  I gave them Robert's phone number. :)

It's not Orourke and it's not Black Madeira, that guy has no idea what he has for sale, why support that kind of seller?  The best thing to do is notify ebay or the seller that you know he's full of dooky and ignore his listings. I wouldn't bid even a nickel.

I logged into my ebay account and clicked on the bidding history for those fig cuttings, there are two bidders, you and another person. Looks like the other person had a price max higher than yours resulting in an auto bid in favor of the other person. No big deal, just thought you should look.

Maybe one should also post on GardeWeb fig forum warning of this guy since apparently we now are labeled as the Fig Police!

Jack, my bid was the current high bid, but he just cancelled this latest auction as well.  Maybe he read here that I reported him to the USDA inspectors.

BLB, Anthony and I (especially Anthony) had already done that.  See page 1.  This guy doesn't care about representing things accurately and is just out to make a quick buck.

WOW this guy! I would be really disappointed and pissed if I spent $50 and years on that crap to find out that I already had this variety. What a jackass. Some people have no morals. I could never lie like that and then try to steal from someone. Ridiculous. Thanks Harvey, Anthony for handling that guy. You guys saved a broken heart for some fig lover out there!

I can't find his address but tried last night.  The domain referred to in his sleazy video is held by godaddy and contact information isn't disclosed.  His phone number is a cell phone.  Anthony, you could buy some cheap tie from the guy and get his address from the package...maybe. ;)

I know if i was this guy i would be pissed. but hes doing wrong. so keep it up. its sellers like this on ebay that make all sellers look bad. and as a seller myself i dont really like it. i have worked hard for my 100% feedback and have even replaced plant that folks had bought and killed months later.

time for some magic tea. no im not in cali ;)

Some people just have a different concept of right and wrong and you really can't explain it to them.  When I came across this video of Judge Judy, I was amazed at this women's insistence that the people got what they paid for, even at the end.  She thinks she is smarter than the world.  This guys video is how to make money on ebay, not how to use ebay as a resource or vehicle to provide a product or service that people want and make a profit doing it.  I can't imagine this guy gets much repeat business in anything he does.

Technically Judge Judy did not win the case correctly, although the seller is a scam artist. The "photo only" words include the weight description along with other descriptions of the phone like color etc., so this cannot be a motive to say she did not worn the potential buyer.
There should be on e-Bay a set of clear rules describing ones items for sale so these kind of scams could be prosecuted.

There are big credit card companies, private lottery companies etc. that use fine print to take advantage of their customers. However, would Judge Judy dare on an eventual litigation process tell the CEO of a multimillion financial corporation that he/she should not have children, refer in bad words to the spouse who is not even present, ask about taxes which have nothing to do with a particular case, and other attacks to the person and not to the wrong doing. Nope, she would not dare. She would be sued for attacks to the person, involving into the citizen's private life etc. She would pay moral damage, financial compensations and damage her career.

To me the seller is a clear scam which needs to be approached by the existing law. On the other hand, the judge is talking way to much off her competence, playing Dr. Laura when she should merely interpret the law. Nice spectacle. In life, I would keep away from both of them.

Oh I agree Boris, like I said I'm not a fan of Judge Judy, but I'm no fan of scam artists either, that girl deserved what she got, but yes the judge exceeded the requirements of the law. Guess that makes for "good" television

This fraudster bragged in his video that he has three different stores so we need to keep an eye out if he tries to market under another eBay name.  Nothing yet, thankfully.
