Watering of Cuttings in Perlite only

Perlite is used for good drainage of water if there are adequate number of holes at the bottom of the pot. I have also read that droplets on the inside of the clear pot is a good indication of moisture but will it be too much to water the cuttings every week since all of it will drain away anyway except what Perlite can hold?
I have been seeing droplets on the inside even months after the first watering and am concern that the beginner roots may be starving for moisture.

I water my plants in perlite (100%)once a week and stand them in the laundry tub to drain out. After that I put the potted cutting over another clear plastic cup.So far no rot. However had rot set in on 2 plants(Elana) that were in perlite/miracle(30/70) grow moisture control potting mix. Probably I should have allowed for more roots to form or grow  more matured before using any soil mix. I used 32 oz clear plastic cups.

The moisture holding ability of the Perlite is dependent on particle size. Some bags of Perlite are quite coarse. Some have a lot fines, almost dust. The finer particles hold considerably more moisture. Some of my cuttings, in Perlite/Vermculite mix, never need re-watering, but most get watered every 2 or three weeks. Moistgure is maintained by having water at the bottom of the packing crates, below the screen, to provide continual humidity and the tops open just enough to keep the air fresh. If you limit moisture loss, you need to input less moisture, as well.
