Watering question

As a newbie this is my first attempt at rooting. I have a sealed container on a heating mat. Temp at the soil line is about 76*. Half of my cuttings are in a coco coir/ perlite mix(70/30) and the other half in a PM/perlite mix again (70/30). When setting up the coir mix I hydrated, squeezed dry and planted. I have 32 oz clear cups with holes on the bottom. The PM mix I hyrdrated and let drain thru bottom holes. My question is, at this stage is how often is watering needed and what indicators should I be looking for. Also at this stage I am not using a grow light. Thanks in advance for the info.

I use perlite in clear plastic cups in the same way - I soak the medium, then let it drain. After I put in the cuttings, I check the top for moisture or how easily it "crumbles" or moves apart. More importantly, I can see moisture inside the cups, below the surface level. If I see the moisture, I just leave it. When it seems loose - or dry - inside, I put in a little water. This "eyeball" method has worked well for me.

just keep damp,
"water" sparingly.
A lot of us mist with a water bottle when needed

The use of the heat mat will increase how quickly the medium will dry out -- so you have to keep an eye on it.  (Things can go from OK to Bad much more quickly when external heat is used.)
BUT, you still don't want to overwater!  Moist is good, damp is less good, wet is right out!  Like Greg said, the misting bottle gives you better control -- it takes more effort to add too much water, and it gives you time to think about what you're doing.
Cheers,
Jim

I dont water at all till there is no wayer condensation on bag at all if in sealed bag you should not have to water. Figs cuttings need more air then water. Check for mold / fungus. Looks l8ke white fuzz. Richie from louisiana

If you pick up the containers you soon know when they need water from their weight.  I wait until very light (nearly dry) but I also do not heat them.
