Weak Trunks/Limbs

Hi All,

Has anyone noticed some varieties/trees having weaker wood than others? Today I was pulling weeds around Verdal Longue. I moved one of the trunks (at the top) about three inches when I felt it give. I thought there may have been a vine growing around it that I snapped, but it was the trunk separating from the base. In the past, I've bent thicker limbs much further (sometimes almost to the ground) without any issue. I was surprised that a trunk would separate from the base like this.

Fortunately, it separated where it touched the ground. The wood had three smal roots on it. I cut it in half and potted the two sticks. Hopefully, I'll end up with an extra tree or two out of it.

BC #93. if i look at it hard, bud will break off. i broke terminal bud on same branch three times. since then, it hasn't grown at all.

James yes it happened on a thick limb on my native de argentile which i eventually burned because of taste disappointment.

Pete be wary of BC #93 as i said in past i been looking for this cultivar and posted here on forum several years in a row then all of a sudden it shows up and they
<<< all >>> lead back to same source from everyone on this forum this is fact.

Person (member) got it from someone off the street that they never knew who bought plants from the member and this person bought that BC#93 from him that said he had 1.

Is it real i don't know i never saw one from a reliable source that can trace it back with certainty to Belleclare such as Herman or a few other members .

Dessert King, During a few storms I had several large branches break this year, nothing else did though.
