This was a simple edge graft done in February. It is doing fine.
Things learned .
1) It works.
2) February was a bad time to do this (most did not take), Even though they were not dormant (still had leaves), they were not actively growing, so were not pushing enough sap to cause the graft to heal together. Waiting till April (here in paradise, later for Rafed) would have increased success rate dramatically.
3) I used T-30E and other caprifigs for rootstocks, as a way of recycling otherwise un-needed caprififgs. This caprifig is now a Black Madeira tree.
4) Already knew about using parafilm from grafting apples, cherimoyas, etc.
5) If you have a variety that roots easily, it might be easier to root them, and then graft on things which root less easily,

The buds will push new growth right through the parafilm which will degrade in 2-3 years. The green nursery tape can stay on for a season or so. It stretches with the growth of the plant. Taking the green tape off too soon risks weakening or breaking the graft union. On harder woods, I use a whip and tongue, but a wedge seemed more suitable to the softer wood, and somewhat irregular shape of the rootstock and scion.

Second bud is now beginning to push out.
