Weird bug ident

Could anyone tell me what this is please? It's sunning itself on my tree. I really need to get the neem spray since the ants are still living in the old trunk.

P.s. Anyone here have a blueberry bush? I just noticed that ants are all over the small bush I planted a couple of months ago. Is this bad? I have noticed that some leaves look munched on and I know it's not snails since I use sluggo.

It looks like a brown stink bug?

Stink bug or soldier bug? I'm not sure if a stink bug would be much of a threat now without any fruit to damage, but soldier bugs are great at getting rid of pests. You can google them both for pics to be sure what you are dealing with. Sorry I don't have experience growing blueberries!

Looks more like the soldier bug, both are stink bugs.

Ants on blueberries, on my blueberries the ants are usually farming scales.

Thank you. I think it is a soldier bug. I shall leave it alone.

The name of this bug is Podisus maculiventris and yes it is a soldier bug.It feeds mostly in other insects therefore beneficial. Lucky you have them.
Porfirio

stinky for sure smash him and smell

You don't need to smash stink bugs to smell them. Just rubbing their backs will do it.

I remember when I was 5-6 y/o there was a tree in the back yard covered with them, Angels trumpet if i recall.

I found out that there was one type that smelled just like strawberries. I collected them in a jar and smelled them the rest of the day.
