Well, someone's excited!

I have an Unknown I'm rooting (sent to me as Kadota (NOT), apparently not BT). They are sure eager! First one popped roots within 5 days. Now this:

Roots growing from above the soil line and through the parafilm.

Roots growing up and out the soil (hard to see, it's about an inch long).

I guess the humidity is high enough in their little tents.

Appears to be very strong.  Good luck!

What makes you say it's not Katoda or Brown Turkey? It doesn't have anything on it yet to even help with an id?

If it continues to survive once leaves come on the excitement elevates.

Interesting use of parafilm. I had not seen or read of that before. I assume that is to keep the cutting from drying out? Or helps prevent mold?

Tami - Here's the description I was given by the provider: "Kadota ( NOT) purchased as named. This is a very large fig. At first I thought it was a brown turkey. But it is much bigger and darker."

Ed - I cut the branch to make 3 pieces, I covered the end to prevent too much dessication. Probably not necessary, but I'm being paranoid after total failure my first try rooting.

Looks good Kelby!  My hardest lesson with rooting has been not keeping the soil too wet.  Your soil looks nice.  I still struggle with it, which is why I think I have better luck with well draining mediums like orchard bark.

I wonder if it could be Patrick's Super Giant?
