Wellspring gardens

Anybody ever heard of wellspring gardens? I got a gift certificate to Amazon and there's a bunch of fig trees from wellspring for sale there that I'm considering buying

Lukie - in less than 30 seconds I found 88 threads about Wellspring, using the search function.  This is a wonderful feature of this forum.

their plants are really small but grow like mad  I have bought from them many times

I bought 6 varieties from them a few weeks ago. I received 6 plants in 1.5x1.5x3" pots ranging in size from 3" to 6" tall and in all cases between 1/8 and 1/4" thin. Well packages and seemingly in good shape. Jury is still out as far as varietal authenticity and how they will do...

I got a couple of healthy little TC trees from them, which have grown pretty large. They are a good source for tissue culture plants.

~i have purchased 4 diff times from wellspring nursery ,and satisfied every time, their trees are small that is correct as posted in another post, and the trees do grow really fast ,do not be afraid to buy their trees i give them the highest rating i can ,thanks wellspring ~

I bought a Blue Ischia off that company.
Later I read that it may not be a blue ischia at all.

I will not order from them again.

Doug

I bought several figs trees from them last fall and right now I have my first fig growing on the Desert King that I bought from them :-D  Super excited about this!

I do not like TC plants! I had rather have a cutting, to me, it will have Figs on it before the TC Tree does... Just my opinion. : )

Really?!  This is good to know about DK.  I know that some trees are harder to airlayer than others.  I did try one air layer on my Black Mission and it's looking good so far.  I am so looking forward to my little tree growing.  It is not big at all.  i think it's maybe two feet but it has one fig on it :-D!

Do you air layer other varieties?

~ yes meg,i air layer celeste, vdb, chicago hardy, italian letizia, desert king (my fastest to root),and sal's el, and gurney's everbearing fig ,you can air layer any fig tree for sure ~

Hey Chuck, RDB is the easiest to air layer for me! In 3 weeks, it was covered with roots! : )

I just received my fig order from Wellsprings last week. Although small, the plants are very healthy, labeled securely, and were shipped safe and sound despite the intense heat we'd been experiencing (heat index in the triple digits).

Whilst I like cuttings and air layering, time is going to pass regardless, and if I'm unable to procure cuttings until next year (or possibly even later) of the varieties I ordered from them, them I'm already ahead. Having grown productive fruit trees from whips (single, un-branched stems the diameter of a pencil), the time it takes for a TC to mature is really no wait at all, IMHO. Especially if you have any other figs you are harvesting in the meantime. :)

Thanks guys

I have not purchased figs from them, but other plants like bananas, mango, rambutan, bay leaf, and several others. They are very small and arrive in 2" pots. Mine at least have taken off really nicely and I have had to transfer them to 1 gal pots. Since I don't get outside much to water my plants, I have been surprised that 90% of my plants from them have not only survived but grown.
