what a beautiful fig

Wasn't someone asking about an orange fig a while back?

I'm skittish about ordering from Greece, does anyone have this tree in the US? It's called Livano Greek.

he can ship worldwide.
I think if you bid it,you will receive it.

I don't think we can get cuttings into the US going through Ebay.....USDA officials monitor these Sales.........

FYI, eBay reports all foreign transactions to the USDA. You do not want a visit from them. Trust me.

I recently found out that you could not even import citrus seeds from outside Texas.

So check their guidelines before you buy anything.

Really !?!?!

if you google "ebay reporting to usda" you'll see different forums where this is discussed.

I don't understand it from a cost and effectiveness perspective. You read about them sending a couple agents hours driving distance to confiscate seeds bought weeks or months previous. If they are worried about disease spread..... which is a legitimate concern..... are they not acting a bit late to prevent that? Wouldn't it be far easier and certainly more cost effective to stop the transactions as they occur?

Gorgi,

They have a list of everyone who buys (or Sells) on eBay. First and last name etc.. The list makes its way to the local USDA office. The officers in charge decide when to pay you a visit.
It could take 6 months, it could take a year. It all depends on how busy they are and the kind of plant you bought. Some plants and countries are a top priority.
So always check their guidelines and the source on eBay before clicking that button. If you bought or sold plants on eBay, you can be sure that your name is on that list.

Tyler,

When they show up, they will take your plants, as well as the soil you planted them in and give you a receipt and a warning at the very least.
If you've made the mistake of buying plants from foreign sources, such as Portugal for example, it's best to keep them separate from the rest of your domestic plants ready for pick up at any time and most importantly do not try to resell any of that material.
It could get serious if they find out that you resold those foreign plants.

Consolation tip- that eye looks open.. it may not be good for FL. growing.. maybe is photoshopped also...

Hello Grasa,

I don't know if it is good for Florida just because the eye is open, please do explain that???? This fig is does not need pollination.  By the way the photo is not photoshoped or touched in any way. This is my fig and I took the picture.  I used a simple digital camera, like I did with all my other figs it just that this is the way this fig looks.  I guarantee  you the taste is out of this world.

Sincerely,

George

I can vouch for Giorgos' honesty and integrity. He is a honourable man with quality figs.

In regards to the open eye, I think Grasa is referring to the humidity and rainfall in Florida which may affect figs with an open eye.

Bill ;)

THANK YOU BILL FOR YOUR INFO.  I understand now that yes, if they have lots of rainfall it does effect an open eye fig and thank you for you trust in me.

Sincerely,

Giorgos

If that fig didn't already have a name, I think "Tequila Sunrise" would be an excellent choice!  What a gorgeous looking fig...

Sorry but you would need something Greek in there so it would have to be 'Ouzo Sunrise'!
