What Do I Do? Or What Would U Do?

Hi,
I have noticed with several cuttings that have rooted that I will have roots near the bottom and near the top where it is leafing out. Do keep the cutting flat and take advantage of both sets of roots or do I pot it so it is more like a traditional tree with bottom roots in the ground and leaves and second set of roots (which I am assuming will die off) up in the air?
The other thing is Do u put all your varieties in the same container? I thought I had lost several varieties because nothing seemed to happening in the container they were in. But found that I had put one of that variety in a different container that I had better luck with. And it dawned on me about putting all your eggs in one basket. From now on I think I will be mixing it up.

It might help to see a picture. If it were me I would consider cutting this cutting in half and planting both (bonus tree!).

I would plant ALL the roots below the dirt, 2X the roots will translate into a more vigorous plant in the long run.

Second that. Early on it's all about the roots.
