what figs are you looking foward to tasting in 2013?

i have few that i'm waiting on. they should all give me some figs next year.

Black Madeira
JH Adriatic
Col de Dame Blanche
Genovese Nero
RdB
Socorro Black (maybe.. still a small tree. i might knock off the figs for next year)
Niagara Black (same as Socorro Black)
Ischia White
Ischia Green
Calvert

of course, i'm also looking forward to tasting my older trees to see how they improve. VdB and Paradiso Gene definitely improved from first year figs. they will be in their 3rd year so i'm definitely look forward to them.

White Greek and Kathleen's Black will be in their 2nd year. looking forward to them also. Both had lot of potential but i think they need time to mature.

I'm looking forward to tasting my first homegrown fig ever!!!! :) Thanks to fellow member Grant who was kind enough to give me some plants to get my collection started. I'm hoping my VdB produces a fig but anxious to try all of them. ;)

I am looking forward to all the col de dames, noire de caromb, desert king, colar (maybe), nefaich, black mission, noire de barbatane, VdB, RdB.

I am still waiting for some of these plants to arrive but I am sure I should get at least 1 fig off some of them next season.

I am looking forward to tasting ALL of them :D There are some I am waiting more impatiently for than others:

Atreano - I've been without this variety for a few years.  I should get more than a few next year.
VdB - Another tree I have grown in the past, but have been without for a couple of years.  I think I might have gotten my VdB mixed up with 'Stella', although I am not sure how.
Stella - see above.  The leaves look more like Stella than VdB.  The fruit will tell, and I will be more than happy with either one.
Aldo - This tree seems to not like too much heat.  I am going to take some measures to help it stay cooler next year.  We'll see how it goes.

There are a few others which have been on my wish list for a few years, and I've finally got my hands on them this year.  I thank all of you who have helped, either directly or indirectly, for making it possible.

I'd have to say ALL of mine , since all of my trees except for 3-5 are very young . My season was way too short.

I am with James on this. All of them and hopefully more than this year.

Celeste
RdB
Vista
LSU Scott's Black

geesh.. update wrong thread. ignore.

"Black Mission"
"Bronx Dark"                 Never tasted these yet.  Maybe... next season ?????
"Kathleen's Black"

"Atreano"....sweet, when dead-ripe....dependable, prolific bearer.
"Red Italian" -unidentified, from Mount Vernon, New York (Westchester County)....sweet, jammy, morsels...best when slightly shriveled on the tree, with a slightly acidic, fruity, punch...
but, can split if roots get soaked at the wrong time.

Looking forward to next season.  It's gonna be a looooooooooooong Winter.  Yech!

Frank

I'm in the all of them boat, and long winter yech boat also. I think Cinderella had a song "Long Cold Winter".

Hey Pete, has it been confirmed Niagara black and soccoro black are the same?

since i'm new to growing my own fig trees, i'm looking forward to tasting any of the varieties i aquired this year which is all the ones i listed below. especially the italian honey, i stopped by the house that i grew up in and my dads fig tree was still there. the new owner was more than happy to give me a small tree that he had rooted earlier in the spring.

no.. what i meant was that they have not grown much this year for me to see the figs next year. no clue what they are going to be like. i haven't seen the figs in person yet, and way they are growing, i won't see them till 2014.

Niagara Black is growing well, but i rooted too late. it's not getting the heat nor the sun.

Socorro Black is just really really slow. it's not like Ischia Green UCD bad as in misshaped leave and all that. it's just really really slow for me.

Ah, ok. I have soccoro black also and have been interested in niagara black. If they were the same that would be one less tree to look for.... I didn't get a ton of growth either, but I don't fertalize at all the first year so I think many of my trees stay small the first season.

i'm definitely looking foward to both of them. i fertilize all my cuttings once they are in 1 gal container. only thing is i started those late and i didn't want to give them fertilizer. i'll pump fertilizer in them as soon as spring comes. but i'll probably knock off all the figs next year on them.

funny thing about Socorro Black is, it put out leaves very late. roots started way before the leave. i have two cuttings rooted and one of them didn't even have leaves till it was 4 months old. Niagara Black just looks awesome. the cuttings rooted really easy and leaves grew out very fast. still, i rooted them late in the season.

Next year I will be a little more adventurous and fertalize earlier.

hmm, my Niagara black was rooted, but really did not grow from July on.  It is still the size of a pencil.  I did not fertilize, but will in the spring.

I agree with tylerj, any figs from my own trees.  Doesn't matter what type, only that it came from my tree in my yard.  Unfortunately it may have to be 2014 for me.

when the zombie apocalypse hits, this is what you need :)
