what figs best for east tenn.

just got to looking at figs after i tried some while in Fla.I would like to start some here but don't what will do THE best or give the best yield anyone know ?

There are good links at http://figs4fun.com/Fig_Links.html from universities, etc in TN and other southern states that will help pick varieties.

wow thanks for that just had some one tell me they were going to send me some cuttings to help me get a start so hopefully I can pay forward one day . and just want to say thanks to all of you who have tried to help me.

well looks like most the links are gone or dead.

I'm a newbie, but my cuttings have been taking about 4-6 weeks to root and start leafing out.  You might want to get a jump on the season by buying a large plant from a reputable vendor online (lots of posts about these) while you try rooting cuttings.  My local garden store had several 3' Brown Turkey plants with figs on them for about $25 each but you can purchase many more varieties online.  Edible Landscaping in southern VA might be close to what would work well for you.

well not going set any out till after reading some of things send to me so I still have time roots starter and wet paper towels then in zip lock baggie  place in warm dark place should get roots start didn't then place the cuts in bucket cover top of bucket with plastic wrap and keep in sunny place that's way I did it 5 year 's ago and in 4 weeks they was ready just can't use dirt.

You have been a member here for 6 years and you are wondering what would be good in your part of the State? Check eBay they have been having good sales lately.
