Found two figs like this today. Looks like the flower is trying to bloom. What happened?

I have a Battaglia that did the same thing. When it's ripe we'll give it a try.
The flower just wanted to show off instead of staying covered inside.
I pulled one off and left one alone. Maybe was one of the ones that was chewed a little.
This happens most often at the fig opening when the inside flowers start showing through the opening and grow outside unlike the one in the picture here.
