looks great.
always nice to get these end of season surprises.

That looks Sooooo good!

Did you share it? ;)

How cool is that?  looks super delicious.

I hope to have my first VdB next summer and hope they look and taste that good.

Looks delicious!! I just ordered vdb yesterday to be delivered this week as well as desert king, Peters honey, stella, and last but not least lemon fig.
I am really excited about the vdb now after seeing those pics thank you!

it was too small to share.. beside, after my wife saw the fig she said why is that thing so winkly? it was as good as last year's VdB when the weather was perfect and cooperating with me. this year, it was just too much rain and birds. it's like spoonful of raspberry syrup with bit of seed crunch. loved it. can't wait till next year.

just put away all my 1 gal figs. will need to repot them into my soil mix come mid fed/early march. that will be a work. counted about 29 1 gal pots. and about 20 different varieties coming in from members and UCD.. i'm really concerned about my sanity. not to mention hardy kiwi i'm starting and i'm really tempted to try mango.. urgh.. i need an intervention. but this idea of growing my own "food" is just too attractive. going out to pick fresh fruit and just enjoying it knowing i didn't put any things that will harm me. fig has really spoiled me.

tiny jungle.

Well you won't find it here.  I mean...that's kind of like an alcoholic looking for help in a bar...

I'm telling you, the little ones may be little, but ... they pakc a lot of flavor into that little package.  I swear, the smaller they are, the more concentrated the flavor seems to be.  I still have yet to taste a big fig that has big, concetrated flavor.

Bullet,
I think the figs that get ripe on the tree and start to look like a raisin are the best.

I know what you mean when you say picking homegrown figs will spoil you. Anything you grow at home is better than what you can buy at the store. the more fruits and vegetables you grow for yourself the more you will realize how poor the quality and flavor is at the grocery store. That is why I grow, raise, or hunt most of what my family eats.
