what i learned today.

when young trees are near each other, be careful where you put your arm. you just might knock off next tree's tip bud. and if it just happened to be a very nice tree, you just might curse out loud.

Been there done that. Especially when trying to water under the grow lights.
I'm sure I cursed also.

I knocked a cup over today trying to keep humidity in the bin! Doh.

The neighbors already know I'm crazy, so a little cursing coming from my backyard and garage doesn't even phase them anymore.

Pete think of it as involuntary pruning.

I did that same mistake 3 times in a row to the same very rare cutting, I was furious and had to walk away for a while

This ' figging ' thing has been very emotional for me,  Glad i'm not the only one!

I hope both you and the fig survived. ;)

My Panachee finally started to leaf out again after quite a while of doing nothing. Guess what? While reaching for another fig plant under the grow light I noticed that first new leaf was leaking white sap. Yep, I hit it with my loose shirt sleeve.

Hi Bullet08,
It was to force branching ... Keep it positive !

For me, each year while trying to remove the dead branches, I end up with a green one in my hand.
So now I wait until July to clean the trees - unless a branch really disturbs the general shape of the tree ...

Gina back then i had posted about this plant making 1 or 2 ripe figs in the 4 or 5 seasons.
Scion was given to me from an Italian friend who brought them back from Italy in his suit pocket (Unknown Dark Type).

Was rooted in a small table top fountain we had at the time simply by letting them float in it .
Sent some scion to few that requested it right before i burned the tree.

branch is good. i wanted to propagate this one like crazy. St. Rita is reaaly good. and it's bite size.
