What is "Flor" ?

There are many "flor" at the end of fig name

Blava Flor

Black Madeira Flor

Albacor Flor

Roja Flor
 
Anyone can tell me. the meaning of "flor"?

How is different between "flor" and "not flor"

I mostly see "flor" especially from MP varieties

And so is 'Florea' ( = flower).
I still remember when Herman first named his dad's heirloom fig
(for me asking) while visiting one mother tree is south NJ on a friend's property.

"What does that mean" I asked.
His answer: "Flower" ...

Hi Vince:I am glad the Florea fig makes good tasting fruits for you,as it was producing good fruits for my Father.
but for me here in Southern NJ,they were only average to mediocre,due to,too much water in the soil in my location,and too much rain at the ripening time.
It seem 50+ inches of rain per year it is too much for ,this cultivar.
I bet 35 inches or less will produce excellent tasting fruits.

One of my favorite figs Vasille! When growing Florea in a container, you advised me to hold back on the water as its native climate was drier. It worked out perfectly. Thank you so much again for the great advice and guidance.
