optimum PH for figs? I searched the Forum but did not get anything.

What I remember from past readings, fig can be happy with PH of 7.5 (+/- 0.5).
THis range is optimum for nutrient absorption.

Yeah, most of what I saw says neutral (7) to slightly basic (>7).  But I've seen others on the forums here saying some of their varieties are doing great in acidic soil too.  I'm surprised you didn't find much on here about pH... there've been lots of threads about using lime to reduce acidity.  Some of the reference material (e.g. Ray Givan's site, and others of the links provided by Jon from the home page) also mention use of lime to avoid excessively acidic conditions.

I remember reading several things about PH in other postings but I searched the subject and got nothing. My soil PH where the trees will go next spring is 6.4-6.6 so I was going to
go ahead and get some lime out so it can start working. It can take up to 6 months from what I read.        

The reason some people (myself included) can get away with growing figs in acid soil is a direct result of our alkaline water.  It is though even more complicated than that because I could have water that has a PH of 7.2 and Mike has water with a PH of 7.2 and my water is great for the figs and his is lousy.  Why?  Bicarbonates.   If you have acid soil but alkaline water that is low in bicarbonates it will not help to make your soil more hospitable to the figs but if you have water high in bicarbonates those bicarbonates will buffer the acid in your soil and make the figs happy.  High bicarbonate water is like liming a fig with every watering.    I grow 135+ blueberries here in Florida and they love acid so I have to add sulfuric acid to their irrigation water.  They are like a needy high maintenance second wife.  I am looking forward to the easy low care figs.  

my soil here is about 6.7 and just about everything i grow thrives here. blueberries need exra care but other than that i produce alot of produce.
