What is the best fertilizer 4 potted figs?

Curious to know what the best non organic fertilizer is 4 potted figs? If a miracle grow product, which one? Also using self watering pots, so will a slow release work with those, or does water have to pass from the top, to properly break those pellets down? I just want to add a soluble fertilizer to my pots water resevoir, so which is best, and do u mix differently from top watering? So many questions I know so sorry! Lol thanks guys

I like fish emulation one week then miracle grow for flowering trees the next week. Both sold at Walmart

I'm a big fan of controlled release fertilizers. Osmocote Plus is pretty complete - except for calcium. Works best if you mix it into the potting mix. I believe it will work in a self watering pot as long as it's buried in the moist layer.

In Tennessee, I used 10-10-10 when I took the figs out of crawlspace storage in early spring and added more every 6 weeks.  Here is a picture of my RdB Tree.-- I have lots of figs on all of my trees. RdBFig.jpg

For those of us belonging to the ourfig forum, there is a pretty informative post on this subject going on right now.

My plants enjoy a bi-monthly snack of Miracle-Gro Organic Choice plant food 7-1-2. Slow release nitrogen. It's the only fertilizer I use. Smells like crap...but it works.
