Anybody know what fig this is? So pretty.
Attached Images
If this is your fig, post photos of the leaves and the cut fig next to a quarter. THEN we might help you.Suzi
I wish I have the leaves picture and the cut blossome but it was sent to me by a friend who has a cousin that posted this picture. :-(
Palmata hybrid maybe?
It looks heavily modified. Do you have an original picture? A brown turkey can look very appealing with some contrast adjustments.
Reminds me of Aaron's photoshopped fig pics
lol, I wish I have the original photo of this beautiful looking figs. ChrisK this Palmata fig is yours? Beautiful!
Kenny pretty fig and gorgeous kitty. Kinds looks like my "Fuzz". Joyce
Sorry gents, I missed it. Well Kenny yes,it is my photoshopped P Honey lol. Sorry Kenny I couldn't help it. I don't think it is that heavily altered and they do look like the palmata hybrid figs. Just run a Google search and look at the images.
My guess is the Turkish Black Bursa.
Thanks for the input everyone! I'm on a hunt now. Joyce, the cat is of my friend's many cats. She was a rescued cat and super adorable, she made me become one of her human slave! purrrr
Yep, Turkish variety. the bluish tinge is due to lighting and it is a layer of dust or something that goes off when you wash it. I olnly was able to taste export quality which had some acidity and slight flavors only it was not good Because not ripe.
That image is a generic one posted many, many times in different places on the internet. it's heavily photoshopped so hard to discern variety.
My Palmatas have figs for the first time, with luck I will have pictures.
The hybrid Carica x Palmata, code named DFIC0023, which seems to be the fruit on the pictures shown above, was described in this post from last year..http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post/dfic0023-carica-x-palmata-7001021?highlight=dfic0023&pid=1283631485#post1283631485It's a very robust and fast growing plant quickly filling their branches with lots of figs.Occasionally it may ripe a few brebas. The fig starts ripening in late July (in my climate) and is very tasty. Unfortunately it needs to be pollinated by the fig wasp.FranciscoPortugal
Will check the link out Francisco, this totally make me want to try pollinate! Thanks for the link! Thanks everyone!:-)
Now that I have a chance to look for this fig in UCD, sadly that code DFIC0023 is no longer there :-(
I am growing DFIC0023 but my original thought was that this is a Bursa fig or possibly Zidi. This image posted by Kenny has been shown on the Internet numerous times and I am unable to locate it's original use. One of the earliest uses I was able to find was posted on an Arabic language forum in June 2013 which seems to be a more accurate copy of the original photo: http://forums.fatakat.com/thread4493866
Thanks Harvey, you look into it even deeper than me, lol. Will you have cuttings to share of this variety?
Kenny, come pulls weeds, we can talk about cuttings :)
:-( seems I'm late for everything, lol! But hey Harvey, I'll pull weeds for cuttings and figgie tasting! Sign me up!
