What is this fig??

Hi guys & girls

Been a long time reader first time poster, good to find other people with the same fig obsession that has me hooked.

Wanted some help identifying one of my dads fig trees.

Im in Brisbane, Australia,

The original mother tree originated from a cutting brought over from Italy about 30 years ago if that helps anything.
Don't know much about LSU gold but ill look it up.

Welcome to the forum Danny. If it came from France then it could be a relative of the White Marseilles? Fruit and leaf looks similar.

Do all of the ripe figs have that transparent flesh near the top half?

I'm not good at identifying figs but looks like a honey type fig.
Do you have any history, origin on it , can you ask dad?
Where is he from (his bloodline), a lot of times people are attached to figs of their own counties...regions. Something that would remind them of their childhood perhaps.


Edit: Also, I don't want to mislead but...reminds me of MaryLane (Seedless), in my case this one is Caprified. But the leaves of MaryLane are mostly 3-lobe and the middle one elongated.

Your fig has somehow of a Pulp texture of Holier fig.

I'm also inexperienced at fig ID, but I will say that the shape of the fig and the inside are somewhat similar to my Italian Honey.  However, the distinctions I noticed are the pulp on yours looks a little more translucent and less pink than mine.  Although I think I've seen it have pulp a little similar to yours at times.  Also from your last pic, it sort of looks like the outside of yours has some brownish tinge in areas, is that correct?  Mine doesn't have that.  Although it could be due to different growing climates.  And I'm wondering if the flesh coloration is also effected by growing climate and how ripe it is at harvest.  I think your leaves look similar to mine but can't recall perfectly.  I'll try to dig up pics and post them this evening if I have a chance.

I tend to agree with Timmy, Jon has listed the synonyms of White Marseilles, Italian Honey, Lattarula, Blanche, etc... from the France/Italy region.

The Marylane Seedless doesn't appear to have the right shape.  When I post my pic later, you'll see the shape is exactly the same.  The part that's throwing me off is the pulp.  It almost looks like the pulp of Luigi's fig wants to be pink but just didn't quite get there fully.  I don't think it's LSU Gold because the shape doesn't quite seem to match and also LSU Gold is obviously not Italian and it wasn't released until 2001.

Hi Frank, the flesh is usually like that, sometimes a little more amber when picked earlier.

The skin is always green to yellow ting, we have had a lot of rain and hot weather just before picking this one and the skin had started to deteriorate

That's what I was thinking, the leaf shape looks identical to a small white genoa I have, but after talking to a commercial plant grower she told me that the white genoa prefers cooler climates and grows very slowly compared to black genoa and brown turkey but this tree is the opposite it grows faster and easily out produces a brown turkey and black genoa trees of similar sizes.

Aaron's White Genoa looks closest to me.  I was thinking my Italian Honey had more of a flattened bottom like the White Triana but apparently the two were mixed in my memory.  Leaves are similar though.

I think Aaron has the best match-White Genoa.

Looking at all the evidence I think it is a white genoa, I was hoping for something a bit more exotic :(
