What is this on my Fig?

This is a 3 year old VdB and here is a photo of the strangest thing ever!  All the other figs are normal.  This is just a small fig, but what is emerging from it's eye?  I feared a big red insect, but it almost looks like a flower to me.  How can this be?  I've never seen anything like it.  Sorry I couldn't get a clearer shot.  My cell phone did it's best!

I had the same issue last year with a breba on my dads tree very strange looking thing. The interior pulp is pushed out and keeps growing.

Here are some pics sorry not the best of quality.

Thats just the flower growing outside the fig from bursting outwards from within the fig  perhaps due to a split in fig or some damage to fig .
Here is picture of another from my yard.
I call it "fig burst" and labeled my file as such .  ; )

Just a fig with a mutant "eye". They happen. Nothing to get excited about.

ok, first one looked pretty, rest of 'em look like sea cucumber committing suicide.

Ha!  There is no smile and no teeth on mine, but I understand that is an occasional happening.  Insides out.  I'm cutting to the chase and cutting it off.  Don't want the others to think that this behavior is OK!

Maybe it will scare any birds you may have problems with... lol

Ha!  The thing scares me!

If you had a Caprifig for pollination,I would guess the VDB fig could possibly produce some new varieties of figs.So this oddity could serve a purpose in the diversity of fig trees in nature.

Should I let the spider mites pollinate it before I bury it?  Never saw a wasp anywhere near here.  Could be because I have that wasp nest spray............
