As i said before i have only been growing figs for three years. and most of the info i have learned i have gotten from others who have grown figs on other forums. and discoverd a wealth of info when i joined this forum less than a week ago. I have seen in post where people have mentioned getting cuttings from uc davis. what exactly is it and how does it work is my question.

UCD has a collection of fig trees, all of which are infected with FMV.  They make cuttings available in late winter.  There is a deadline for submission but if you're not after the super rare you may be able to submit late and get something.  Can't hurt to try  :)

Nothing to forgive - if you don't know how are you going to learn ? No question is silly!  I never knew about it before coming here.

almost all fig trees have FMV. don't worry too much about it. some of UCD cutting show more issue than others.

I would rather get healthy cuttings anyways. but i am going to do a little research on this fmv so i can better understand it. thanx for the help all.

good luck finding cuttings without FMV. Just about all figs have it....some worse than others.
