could it be rain? is the tree in the ground or in a pot?
I had a small a tree in a pot that did that but it recovered.

Hi Bass,

It could be from a rain storm we had the other day, but this is the only plant doing this so far!out of 7 other plants.

This is a potted plant.

thanks much, maybe it will snap out of it.

Hey there Cecil,
the rain has not ever done that in my potted plants as of yet.
When its dry with no rain i always have some jugs filled with tap water airing out all the chlorine stuff in it to water them or if we get a good rain i use the jugs to fill and right before i water is when i mix the MG with it not ahead of time. Sometimes i cant keep up with the jugs in a real dry spell not enough of them for the big plants only for the little ones, and use the hose with water softener machine on by pass so they dont get the salt.
You know personally i think your plant will be ok with time !!!
Keep watching the top little bud it should keep on opening new leaves and cycle itself to keep doing that if so your plant should be ok.
Keep your toes crossed!!!

Martin,

Like I told Bass, none of the rest have did that!

Toes are crossed:)

Just a guess, but the grayish dots in the dead area look to be fungus of some type... Tomatoes and winter squash have similar dead leaves for me... and again, some do some don't... Perhaps that particular fig is just a bit more prone to infection... And the rain isn't helpin one way or the other...

Cecil I was thinking about your figs affected by heat.
In order to avoid excesive heat problems for in pot figs,a remedy that works for sure is Pot in pot.
Placed the original pot with the fig,in it,in another larger pot.
In between the walls fill it with Light,Packing, material, insulation,or shreded Newspaper .
Of course make sure The drainage is still functional, and if needed drill more Holes.

This is needed because when the soil gets hot ,in the pot it create all kind of problem.
The Texas heat will be defeted, for sure, with this method.

Thanks Sage721 maybe that little guy will snap out of it.

Herman, I have did the pot/in pot thing to all of my 1 gal pots
but this one is in a 3 gal pot and I haven't did that to it...yet
The only thing I did different than what you are recommending is, I used pine bark nuggets for the insulator.
Thanks

Tom, it looks just like what I have here,
Thanks

Hi,

I am a newbie here, my fig trees (and my home) are in Savannah, GA, right now I am sitting at my folks house in Germany, researching figs, anxious to get back into my garden at the end of August! :)

I had the same thing occur on my (very) old, in-ground trees last year, where big patches of leaves turned the way yours did. By the end of summer my trees had partially defoliated.

I was told it was fig rust, this year I treated both trees with a fungicide (copper solution) early in the season, and so far only very few leaves have been affected.

Hope your leaf problem turns out to be a passing occurrence!

Cheers,
Imke

Thanks Imke

I am trying to find out what's the deal with this young fig plant!

Good hearing from Ya......welcome

Hi Tom,

I don't think it is fig rust!

Spring time is the time for using the copper I think.
