What Is Your Fastest Growing Fig Tree

What is your fastest growing fig tree ?
How many feet a year does it grow ?
When you trim it don't you want to give all
the cuttings away to everyone you know ?
Do the figs taste good ?
Just wondering ???

Debbie, my fastest growing tree this year was a Conadria. I put it in the ground last fall to overwinter. It took of like a rocket this Spring. It is now around 8 foot tall, multi-branched with the largest branch about 2 1/2 inches across. It has produce an abundance of good tasting figs. It survived the drought and the heavy rains with no problems and gave me a fair amount of figs. It didn't split in the rains and the birds seem to leave it alone until it's perfectly ripe and then they don't seems to like them, just a peck or two. By the way, what was your fastest growing tree.
"gene"

I don't know if this counts but...

In my self watering container, my Bronze Paradiso grew 5 ft in 6 months. It also is the slowest to start going dormant. Not one leaf has turned yellow or dropped as of Oct 29 here in MA.

My fastest were a few unknowns but they didn't grow too much
I would have liked a couple of feet but they only grew about a foot.
Maybe they were growing roots and next year will be the year they
put on top growth...

The fastest so far is a VDB it was a cutting in Dec. 2010 and is now 7ft nicely branched in a 7 gal. pot and has given me some pretty good fruit for a first year plant.

LSU purple has pretty much EXPLODED after it settled into a good spot and my Ficazzana from Sicily also is a fast grower and generates early brebas and continues to produce through the summer. I have used several ficazzana plants to graft cuttings onto.

The grafted plants are much less risky for me in this subtropical climate. My cuttings have not rooted at the rate I hoped and I can do 100 pct on the grafts. The fact that the ficazzana iis a fast grower will help with slow growers. time will tell. Nothing grafted on LSU purple yet, but I'll compare the two next spring. Fig taste is relative to rain amount week before fruit ripens.

Desert King, LSU Purple, VDB, Black Madeira, and Joe's Jersey.
