That's awesome!

I love this hobby :)

Fun to collect, fun to eat, fun to share.  It's even fun to see other people amass their collections.  Pretty much just a great hobby all the way around.

For me it would be the best from each taste category, with a first and second place, because each group is special and very different from each other, almost like a different fruit, apples and oranges. Most of my figs are from first year cuttings, so the ones that stood out were usually from the older trees from nurseries or gifts from generous members.

Sugar fig: LSU Purple first, with a Celeste Improved (PftP sold as O’Rourke) second.

Honey Fig: Pete’s Honey first with the abundant Latarulla EL second

Adriatic Berry: Strawberry Verte first (finally one that didn't split!) with Bourjasotte Gris (1st year) a close second.

Bordeaux Berry: VdB first with RdB second, although it was more sweet with less berry flavor.

Dark Berry: Marseilles Black VS (1st year) but some figs in this class are still ripening, so this could still change.

Hi Frank. I have many varieties and it has been very hard to beat a Col de Dame Blanc (UCD version). Unfortunately it is has been a very late fig and hard to get established. In fact I picked my last fig this past week one of only three or four fruits this season.
Last year I had a much better crop. The winter keeps on trimming my tree. After three years this shrub is not over two foot tall. I Keep hoping for a more robust growth and increased crop each year.
The Col de Dame Gris which has almost a similar taste is a much better grower but so far has not been as productive.

Looks like my Conadria figs

Moving to grow figs!!!  Oh my goodness I am soooo jealous of all the amazing fig tasting experiences.  As a new addict, I am dreaming of my first experience of the favorites you all mentioned here.  Seems that many of you love the Italian 258 this year!  Sounds like a sensory explosion  Our figgy addiction is getting pretty bad, my boyfriend and I are house hunting with fig growing at the top of our perfect house list (climate and property).  We are moving to a micro climate in our valley just to have more success with figs.  I so appreciate all the generous sharing of figs, knowledge and enthusiasm. Reading the forum is fast becoming my bedtime story.  Here's to the figs and figgy friends.
Best, Jodi
Camp Verde, AZ Zone 10

I feel unworthy of the gift, but I would dearly appreciate being a mom to any of your favorites.

Wish List:
Italian 258
BM
Smith
White Triana
Toni's Brown Italian
And any others you have extra cuttings of.

This year I can share Brown Turkey and Texas Everbearing (1 year old in ground and 8 feet tall) cuttings, which are still ripening with oiling of their bellies.

I would have to say that it is Raspberry Latte, what a great Fig!

Only have about ten varieties so far and my Red Lebanese is the best

Attilio Purple was very good.  VdB and Petite Negra were both really good, too.  Had an Unk Orangeburg Purple this morning, and those are getting better and better.  Best might have to be the VdB, though.

I have ,and I had Many varieties,so I can also ,clearly choose my best Tasting fig this year.and, is again, just like last year,Italian 258.
Depending on the Summer season i had in other years,as my best,tasting:Violette de Bordeaux,Col de Dame,Adriatic JH, Nero 600 M, Dalmatie,Maltese Falcon,Ischia Black,Preto,Madeira Black,and some others,but for the last
2 years it was Italian 258.
It taste like Madeira Black, and it looks like Madeira Black on steroids,as compared to size,of fruit, and vigor of tree.

By the way, mine isn't like that, no long neck, maybe its just not old enough

I only had three varieties produce figs this year LSU IC, Hardy Chicago and Sweet George.  They were all good, yet the Sweet George really stood out for me.  I should have many more to try next year.

Is it next year yet???

Wow, all those figs look great ,thanks all for posting.
I'm pretty sure that Charlie's fig is a Brunswick. If you look at pic #2 , the large eye, the shape of the leaves( look at the shadow on the ground) and the interior color point to that. Brunswick can be a knock out good fig at the right conditions or a nightmare during heavy rains and a very humid season.
My favorite this year was my Hardy Chicago. Very rich fig flavor, sweet enough and that peachy skin!!!! Hm hmmmmm.

No hollow in middle, so no

Not all figs look exactly alike and if you look closely there is a bit of a hollow right past the eye on the top half. Weather conditions can dramatically alter the fig look and taste especially the Bruns. I have quite a few of them and I get all kinds of different looking ones. Some are round some long , with a short or long fruit stem and the same tree can vary in appearance from year to year. By the way it's just a guess.

Hey Chris, I agree that it's a Brunswick! The leaves are a dead give-a-way..:)

It seems that Brunswick is the correct match, good observation Chris and Frank.

This year my favorite was my Orsara from Italy which has a very special favor what I can't describe maybe a little honey with a cinamon after taster. The second was my Michurinska 10, we had a hot summer without rains so it was absolutely delicious :).
