Rather than highjack the Desert King thread, I'll just ask this as a new topic because I've been unable to find any info on this.How low can the temperature get during the winter before the breda crop of Desert King is killed?
From my experience temperatures below 14F /-10°C can cause dieback on the last years groth.
It's a good question and I've often wondered the same. I think Feigenbaum's answer is probably reasonable but it also depends on the variety, how long the tree is exposed to the low temperature, the presence or absence of dry winds etc.
Don't know the answer, but 3 years ago, we had 4 or 5 nights in a row that got down to 20 degrees, and it did not affect my friends Desert King brebas at all. His tree is 60 years old though.
